This freebie includes two worksheets. These summer counting activities are perfect for preschool and kindergarteners to practice their fine motor skills and counting objects in a set up to 10.

The two worksheets included in this set feature cute watermelon clipart and are meant to be printed onto standard 8.5 x 11″ printer paper.

There are 10 counting problems per sheet for a total of twenty watermelon themed counting problems altogether plus an extra bonus question on the first worksheet.

The first worksheet features watermelon slices with numbers attached. Kids will read the number (number recognition) and draw the correct number of watermelon seeds in the watermelon slice.

As a bonus, kids will trace a watermelon slice and do the opposite – count the seeds in the watermelon and write the correct number of seeds in the box provided.

In the second worksheet, children will emphasize 1:1 correspondence by counting each watermelon seed and matching the corresponding number with the correct amount of seeds. This is a cut and paste worksheet so your kids will need scissors and glue.

Here’s a great (and very enthusiastic) video by Jack Hartmann that counts by 1’s to 10. Your kids will have fun dancing and counting!
