Social and emotional learning is the process of learning how to identify and understand your feelings, and how to manage those feelings. It’s also about communicating empathy towards others.

It’s important for children because it helps them develop empathy, self-awareness and self-management skills. It also helps them understand the feelings of their peers.

It’s important for children and adults alike because it helps them make sense of their emotions. It also helps them understand what they are feeling and why, as well as how to manage their feelings in healthy ways.

These printables were designed to begin a dialogue with your child about feelings. A big part of social and emotional learning (SEL) is being able to identify how you or someone else is feeling.

2 Free fall emotions activity worksheets

This printable covers different facial expressions for six different emotions:

  • happy
  • sad
  • worried
  • surprised
  • silly
  • excited

These worksheets are here to help your child improve their emotional vocabulary by recognizing and naming the different emotions. Even if your child is a pre-reader, this activity provides children with a great space to talk about their emotions, as well as emotions in general.

It’s important to normalize talking about our feelings so that we can better manage them.

How to use

These worksheets are truly no prep! Just download, print, and complete.

No costly ink is required, no laminating, and no cutting on your part 😉.

You’ll need some scissors, glue, and some basic coloring supplies if your child wants to color the images after they complete the worksheets.

As a cut and paste activity, your child also will practice their fine motor skills and build hand strength through the use of scissors.

To complete this activity, your child will look at each of the six faces and cut and paste to match the emotions.
